Hitting Bokchoy Tang was a part of our Good Food Guide travels... Reading the menu online was getting me really excited, and with good reason, they definitely delivered... The staff were very attentive, the food was served in good time and so very tasty... The room was beautiful, with lovely views of Federation Square... And for what we ate the price was good...

Unfortunately I forgot my camera, but we got a pic of my
CRISPY BARRAMUNDI W. LEMON HONEY SAUCE
Filleted whole barramundi deep-fried until crisp & served w. red capsicum, peas & a lemon honey sauce 24.50
This was divine! The fish was cooked to perfection and the sauce perfectly complemented it... I wasn't hot on having the head and tail on my plate, but each to their own...
TOFU HOT POT Fresh firm tofu w. mushrooms, carrots, baby corn, broad bean, Chinese cabbage, ginger, spring onions & light soy sauce20.50
Mark ate this and enjoyed it, the camera on the phone crashed by this stage so no pic...
Overall we would definitely go back, the banquets look fantastic if you were to go with a group of people...

LG Prada II + Prada Link Bluetooth Watch

'LG’s newest high-end fashion phone, the Prada II, will now be releasing with a matching Bluetooth Prada watch to go with it. These will not be bundled but sold separately. Available now in the UK, the Prada Link watch will go for around £250 ($376 USD), and the LG Prada II will go for a hefty £475 ($715 USD). The phone features a convenient slide-out keyboard with 3G, Wi-Fi, a full HTML browser, and a nice 5 megapixel camera. The Prada Link is a sleek, sophisticated looking Bluetooth watch that can control the phone’s features remotely as well as displaying text messages for your convenience.' hypebeast.com
This phone looks lovely... Would be very interested in how user friendly it is... Not quite sure whether the watch would be worth bothering with, mostly because I am addicted to phones...

Spoil Yourself Massage - Mount Waverley

VIC 3149

One of the 5 massages I was given for my birthday was at Spoil Yourself in Mount Waverley... My mum frequents this place and loves it which is why she bought me a massage here... It usually takes a few weeks or more to get in, so I was surprised and happy to have called and got in the next day as there were two cancellations... Eugina did my massage and I found her lovely, she explained all of the things she would be doing and briefed me on the pregnancy massage bed - with a big hole for your belly and lots of support for your breasts...

Once it started she was great, did my whole body in the hour, didnt talk - which is important to me, and overall made me feel fantastic! I was definitely loose when I left, driving home was challenging as I was so floaty! Would definitely recommend this massage for a pregnant lady...

True Blood - HBO

True Blood - HBO

I had high hopes for this show, being a HBO fan, I really thought it would come through... We sat through 7 episodes, hoping that something more would happen, but it was very slow and the most interesting story line was that of the main characters brother... A good idea for a story, mediocre execution and at times some pretty horrific acting, most of that done by Stephen Moyer... I really wouldn't bother...

Kiedis' rock story heading to HBO

Variety reports that HBO is working with Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis on a series based on his fascinating, rock-n-roll childhood...

Check the article... Sounds good... But then I was a fan of his book 'Scar Tissue'... And am a RHCP's fan, and I also love HBO, its a win win situation...

Meeting Mark after work Friday night before the No Comply exhibition I was starving... Had a yearning for Pad Thai but haven't really eaten much Thai in the city, so cruising down China Town we stopped at the first opportunity...

It was early, so quite empty hence the service was great... Ordering was easy a serve of veg spring rolls and veg pad Thai for Mark and meaty spring rolls and meaty pad Thai for me... Very reasonably priced, especially for dinner in the city... Spring rolls were average, as were both pad thai's, would prefer to pay the extra $4 and get the amazing pad Thai served at our local... Afterwards my tummy hurt a little, and later it turned out that the prawns (can only assume) made me sick... So I wont be going back there...

Ricky Gervais making something new for UK TV!

From Perezhiton.com:
The new show is actually an off-shoot of his upcoming film... Its based on a group of twenty-somethings in dead-end jobs at a British building society in the 1970s.
Gervais said the series will be “quintessentially British”.

Should be interesting!

Finally heard this today, I was pretty scared after the dance crap Human, but was pleasantly surprised... There is still hope for their next album!

Casio Baby-G and G-Shock Grey Skeleton Collection

Although I stopped wearing my Baby G 5 or so years ago, and I recently got a beautiful Marc Jacobs watch for my birthday I have been thinking about getting anoter Baby G for post baby... Not really interested in effing up my Marc watch with the day to day of being a mamma... Am impressed by this new line, cant decide which of the ones below I would prefer...

Russell Brand in talks to join the pirates...

Not that I believe much of what the British media has to say, but this could be good...
From perezhilton.com
A source tells the Sun that Russell has been in talks with the Disney people about the role and that the part could mean an $8 million payday for the funny guy.
The insider goes on to say:
"There couldn’t be a role more perfectly suited. There’s a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behaviour. Depp’s accent isn’t a million miles away from Russell’s either. Russell joining the Sparrows alongside Johnny and Keith Richards as their dad will complete the ultimate on-screen pirate family.”

Caffeine

Caffeine

Tried it for the third time through my pregnancy, for a hen’s night, I really needed a little something to help me stay up through the night…. On finding out I was pregnant I stopped caffeine, only really drank it once a week, but anyway… The appeal of an Icebreak was too much in the warm Cairns climate and so I drank it... I started getting hotter and more talkative, feeling a bit like being on speed, but the problem was that after a little while, bubs started moving, a lot, more then she ever does when I’m not laying still… This continued all night, well past midnight, right into my getting to sleep… Don’t think I could knowingly do that to her again, it just seems cruel…

Cock and Bull - Cairns

My family who live in Cairns always come here, and so every time we visit we come here. It is a tavern that has animal heads stuck to the walls, which is the only downside… A long menu with loads of yummy options at good prices (several vegetarian options too)… When the food comes you wonder how people make it through to dessert, the meals are massive!

Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns

Corner The Esplanade & Kerwin Street
The end of our stay in Cairns was spent here thanks to Mum and Shane… Big rooms with great air con x2 and fans above beds and tv, big wardrobe/bathroom and kitchenette and loungeroom with tv and dining… A 5 to 10 minute walk to town… The resort has 3 pools, the highlight being the lagoon style pool at the front of the complex, a really beautiful pool area, where we spent a good amount of time, it was a fair trek from our room but totally worth it!

The night before the wedding 25 of us came to the highest pub in QLD for dinner… A big menu full of lots of different flavours, with only 1 vegetarian option… It appeared that the staff weren’t able to cater for us efficiently even though we had booked ahead lots of meals were messed up and brought out over an hour and a half… Most people ordered steak and were disappointed with over cooked meat, I ordered the chicken parmigana, it was awesome, I was very happy with it…

On arrival I was impressed, manicured gardens, lovely building with a good vibe, very airy, and beautiful rooms… Andrew, the host, was very helpful, and made a lovely continental breakfast… Very comfortable lodgings, only downside was shared bathroom… The problem was at night, you could hear the frogs which I was sure were night ducks, all night, every 2 seconds until the birds woke up! Would recommend using ear plugs of you are staying here…

I was wary of getting my mani pedi done out here in a bush town, but the fear was completely unfounded… For $95 I had a mani with French gel tips, and pedi both with a paraffin dip… Patrice the beauty therapist was very professional and knowledgeable, at the same time as being very engaging and a pleasure to talk to for the hours it took to get done! Highly recommended!!!

La Pizza - Cairns

La Pizza.
93 Esplanade St
Cairns
Queensland, 4870
Phone: (07) 4031 2646

Every night walking home the smell of this place made you want pizza… a week into our stay we decided to succumb to the smell… seated by a girl on her first day, who didn’t understand our order, started the experience off on a bad note… soon after we ordered I needed the bathroom, she said she would find out where it was, the pizza came but she didn’t come through with the info, by which time I was busting… I ate the pizza in record time, the pizza itself was over flavoured with oregano and rosemary – on a Hawaiian – I don’t think so, and the girl had still not found out where the bathroom was, I asked another member of staff, she gave me keys and directions to a place far far away… I followed the directions and came to a dark alley, no way I was going there, went back fuming and busting, paid and cruised quickly to the night markets to use their facilities… This place didn’t live up to the amazing pizza smells…

Cairns Habitat Cruises

Croc cruise
Half day tour $59
www.cairnshabitatcruises.com.au
The cruise started off down the mangroves, giving you an opportunity to check out the local nature, and if you are lucky, which we were, some crocs in their natural habitat… It was quite lovely, as was the tea and cake provided… When we docked Gary picked us up in the tour bus and took us to the Cairns International Croc Park, not a tourist croc par like Hartleys, but a proper croc farm… Wee saw where they breed, where the babies go once they have hatched, where they are culled, and hang out until they are frozen… A full on experience with loads of info, the most important being that the French and Italian fashion houses buy up to 85% of the croc skin farmed here Hermes is their biggest client…
Overall we really enjoyed this tour, was well worth the $59 each we paid, very informative!

Baskin Robbins

Baskin Robbins
Esplanade, Cairns
After our first ice cream experience we thought it best to stick to what we know, so off to Baskin Robbins we went… I had the cookies and cream as a safe option, which it was, the love potion 31, definitely yummy, the raspberry cups were a highlight! And tried the new candy man flavour, which reminded me of Ben and Jerry's, amazing! Would definitely be up for that again…

Coast Roast Cairns

Coast roast lunch
Pier end of the esplanade, Cairns
Fiending for a burger walking down the esplanade and having no luck, we reached the end and saw that coast roast had one… the burger was massive, and hit the spot!

Cairns central cinema

Cairns central cinema
http://www.greaterunion.com.au/
Of the two cinemas in Cairns we were recommended this one… It is the newer of the two, but the air con didn’t start until the movie started, the smell was of urine and sweat, I felt sick from it for the first half of the film… I am assured that this is a one off, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to go back even though there was something we wanted to see!

How to lose friends and alienate people - Film Review

How to lose friends & alienate people

We are both big Simon Pegg fans, and although it was clear that this wasn’t one of his own films I still hoped for more from this film… Peggs character doesn’t have any charm which is what he does well, Megan Fox is smoking hot, but fails to provide a solid performance at a role you would think any actor could easily excel at, and Dunst is also boring… It took a really long time for anything to happen and when it did it just wasn't that good… wait till it’s on TV…

Belissimo Gelataria - Cairns

Belissimo Gelataria
Behind the night markets
Was fiending for ice-cream on a particularly warm night and this spot was recommended… Initially I was thinking it didn’t really have my usual favourites, fell into the peer pressure and ordered a medium with white chocolate and Milo… The medium is massive, but the cup is not durable to withstand the amount of ice-cream as it rapidly melts… Becoming more and more disastrous as it melts… We had to run back to our room to get bowls, but overall the taste wasn’t good enough to outweigh the annoyance of the crappy cup…

The Woolshed - Cairns

The Woolshed
24 Shields StCairns City, QLD 4870(07) 4031 6304
http://www.thewoolshed.com.au/
The main reason we went here is because we got the meals half price with our stay at Caravella… You are offered a free meal which is small or you can upgrade to a proper main for half price… The chicken Parma was massive with vegetables/salad and chips/jacket potato/mash… I also tried the warm chicken salad, which was awesome! The margarita pizza was crap and not worth the upgrade, small and seemed to be a frozen pizza…
